India’s Sub-Junior Boys Defeat Pakistan and Oman in Dominant FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship Campaign

India’s sub-junior boys dominated the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship with victories over Pakistan and Oman, while the girls fought strongly against China. The tournament also acts as the Asian qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup, highlighting the importance of the competition.

India’s sub-junior boys delivered a commanding performance at the FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship, defeating arch-rivals Pakistan 7-3 and hosts Oman 10-1 to complete a triumphant Friday. Meanwhile, the Indian sub-junior girls displayed strong determination but suffered a 3-6 defeat against China in their Elite Pool encounter.

The Indian boys seized early control against Pakistan, establishing a 3-0 lead by half-time. Romit Pal opened the scoring in the 8th minute before Karan Gautam and captain Ketan Kushwaha found the net in the 10th minute to strengthen India’s advantage.

India continued their attacking momentum after the break, with Prahalad Rajbhar extending the lead to 4-0 in the 12th minute. Pakistan attempted to fight back through Muhammad Usman, who scored in the 12th and 15th minutes, followed by captain Adeel’s goal in the 17th minute.

However, India maintained their dominance as Shahrukh Ali scored in the 16th minute, Rahul Yadav struck in the 18th minute, and Kushwaha completed the victory with his second goal of the match in the 20th minute, securing a convincing 7-3 win.

Earlier in the day, India produced another impressive display by defeating Oman 10-1. The Indian team raced to a 6-0 lead at half-time, with Shahrukh Ali scoring twice in the 3rd and 10th minutes, while Ketan Kushwaha added two goals in the 6th and 8th minutes. Karan Gautam and Prahalad Rajbhar also contributed goals in the 2nd and 3rd minutes respectively.

India added four more goals in the second half. Kushwaha completed his four-goal haul with strikes in the 11th and 19th minutes, while Gautam scored in the 15th minute and Rajbhar netted his second goal of the match in the 16th minute.

In the sub-junior girls’ Elite Pool match, India put up a spirited challenge against China and were level at 3-3 at half-time. Sandeepa Kumari gave India an early lead in the 1st minute, while Kiran Ekka scored twice in the 3rd and 6th minutes. China’s first-half goals came from Guo Jiaxin in the 2nd minute, Ge Chen in the 3rd minute, and Lu Tongtong in the 10th minute.

China strengthened their position in the second half as Guo Jiaxin completed her hat-trick with goals in the 13th and 20th minutes. Lu Tongtong added her second goal of the match in the 20th minute to secure a 6-3 victory for China.

The FIH Youth Hockey5s Asian Championship also serves as the Asian qualifier for the inaugural FIH Youth Hockey5s World Cup, making the tournament a crucial platform for emerging hockey talent across the continent.
